Easy Spring Projects to do this March

Each day spring is moving in closer and closer, as it approaches it is a good idea to begin tidying up the house, both inside and out. Take a look around your home and think about what can be donated, recycled, or disposed of, make a list and get to it! Before you know it warm spring days will be here! Whether you want to plant a garden this year, grow a picture perfect lawn, or relax and lounge in beautiful new patio furniture, there are plenty of March must do projects.
Here area few March must do projects we think will brighten up your home this spring!

Clean Your Carpets

Throughout the winter months, it’s highly likely you and your family have tracked in all sorts of germ and dirt. From ice melt, slush, even mud, your carpets have definitely seen better days. It’s a good idea to give your carpets and rugs a deep clean for a fresher start to spring. You could rent a carpet cleaner locally or buy your own machine and keep it for years to come.

Reorganize Your Wardrobe

Spring is a great time to reorganize your closets. Go through your winter clothes and make a pile of items you feel you won’t wear again next season or didn’t wear this past, itmes that are worn but still in good quality set aside to donate! Whatever winter clothes you choose to keep, pack into airtight bags, bins or boxes and store them in a dry space. With your old winter wardrobe out you can now organize your closet with your warm weather clothes.
If your closet needs some additional organizing, build or buy shelves, dividers, or install an extra tension rod, doubling your usable space!

Green Sweep

Now that the snow has melted it’s time to check your lawn for any damage. A patchy lawn can be fixed by removing the dead soil, tilling the soil, and adding compost. It’s smarter to save this project for a warmer day so the dirt can be moved easily and the seeds can soak into the ground. Try to hold off on fertilizer, if it’s spread too early it may cause weeds to grow instead of grass.

Prep Your Patio Furniture

Backyard parties, barbecues, and relaxing in your yard can be even greater if your outdoor furniture is ready for it. Remove any flaking paint or rust from metal furniture by using a wire brush and sandpaper, repaint after for a fresh, clean look. Clean cushions of any mold or mildew with a mixture of 1/4 cup Borax and warm water. If any patio furniture has been damaged break it down and recycle what you can.

Allergy-Proof Your Home

Spring allergy season affects many, if your family has allergy issues take precaution now before tree, grass, and flower pollen reach their peak. Stopping pollen at the door is as easy as laying down double door mats, one inside and one out. Ask guests to take their shoes off in the entry way to avoid outdoor pollen from tracking itself into your home. Swap your heavy drapes for lightweight curtains as they are machine washed easier than heavy ones. Air filtration systems are also key, investing in a HEPA air filter or upgrading to a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter attached will go a long way in helping your family this allergy season.
